Since 2014, The ONWARD Project has worked to expand its documentation about the Rainbow Bridge-Monument Valley Expedition by locating related archival collections. Research began in Los Angeles with the collections at Fowler Museum at UCLA. Seeking further resources, The ONWARD Project’s Head of Research, Allison Fischer-Olson, began traveling to meet with RBMVE descendant families and conduct research at repositories throughout California, and the United States. Material has now been located over 75 other collections in museums, archives, libraries, and family collections. Many of these organizations and descendant families have become invaluable collaborators and contributors to The ONWARD Project, adding perspectives that could never be represented from archival material alone.

Each RBMVE-related collection and its contents have been outlined in the “Rainbow Bridge-Monument Valley Expedition Collection Guide.” Interested researchers may view and download the whole document as a PDF here. Additionally, this Collection page will feature each collection separately, including samples of material if rights allow and/or links to material that has been made available online by respective repositories on their own websites. Please direct inquiries about material to the listed repository, or to the Head of Research at afischerolson@onwardproject.org for material held by The ONWARD Project. Repositories may also contact the Head of Research with requests to change or update information.
